ESMOSULZ 20/40
Esomeprazole is used to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems such as acid reflux, ulcers.
It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes. It relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and persistent cough.
This medication helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers, and may help prevent cancer of the esophagus.
Esomeprazole belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
Most people don’t have side effects from PPIs. Infrequently, people may experience:
Diarrhea
Nausea
Vomiting
Headache
Adult dosage (ages 18 years and older)
Healing erosive esophagitis:
20 mg or 40 mg taken once per day for 4 to 8 weeks.
If this treatment doesn’t work, your doctor may repeat the treatment for another 4 to 8 weeks.
Maintenance of healed erosive esophagitis:
20 mg taken once per day.
Treatment of symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux disease:
20 mg taken once per day for 4 weeks.
